Kentucky Apple Cake – Ingredients
- 2 Eggs
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/4 cup Buttermilk
- 2–3 tbsp Milk
- 2 cups Sugar (for cake)
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract (for cake)
- 2 sticks Margarine (for cake)
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 1/4 tsp Baking soda
- 1/8 tsp Salt (plus a pinch for apples)
- 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 3 cups Finely chopped apples (the juicier, the better!)
- 1 tbsp Light corn syrup
- 2 cups Chopped walnuts (for that crunch!)
For the Shiny Glaze
- 1/2 cup Margarine
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 3/4 cup Sugar (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup Real vanilla extract (for glaze)
How To Make Kentucky Apple Cake:
Step 1: Heat Things Up: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch pan thoroughly.
Step 2: Eggs First: In a mixing bowl, beat the 2 eggs. Mix in the 2 tsp of cinnamon, 1/4 cup buttermilk, 2-3 tbsp of milk, and 1 tsp of real vanilla extract.
Step 3: Dry Squad: Sift the 2 cups of sugar, 2 tsp of baking powder, 1/4 tsp of baking soda, and 1/8 tsp of salt. Add this dry mixture to the egg mixture.
Step 4: Melt the Margarine: Melt the 2 sticks of margarine and pour it into the mixture. Combine everything well.
Step 5: Introduce Flour: Slowly introduce the 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour to the mix and combine thoroughly.
